How Puff Came to Be or How It All Got Started

My friend, Jao and I, were going to see a Christmas play.  The play was being put on at this place that is right next to the main mall in our area so we decided to poke around in there for awhile before it was time for the play.  One of the places we like to frequent is the toy store.  We really are nothing but big kids.  She went to one part of the store and I went right for the puppets.  I would pick up a random puppet and play around with it just having a good time.  At this time I picked up a "dragon" puppet and snuck up behind Jao. I then put the puppet in her face and said in a voice that is similar to the one people know as Puff's voice "Hey baby.  I'm Big Daddy Puff.  Does my green, scaly skin turn you" head bob was in place here "on?"

It was at this point she broken down laughing and replied with "Okay, that's it.  You have to get that puppet now!"  So I gave in and ended up buying the puppet that would soon be known at Daddy Puff.  His name was changed from Big Daddy Puff to just Daddy Puff since Jao had started playing Bioshock and she said he wasn't a "big daddy".  Even though the name was part of the joke to begin with.

She also helped in finding the right voice for Puff.  His voice didn't always sound the nice rough, gravely way it does now.  It took a LOT of practice and using his voice over and over again to find it.  The plan for Puff was always going to be what it is now.  To take him with me to conventions and ask voice actors (or anyone else for that matter) his question.

Me using Puff as a place to hide during Colossalcon 2010

Daddy Puff goes to his first convention at Colossalcon 9.  This also happen to be the first convention that wasn't my home con I went too as well as my first one as a Risembool Ranger.  Puff ended up staying in the room for most of the con on Friday because I was kind of too nervous to bring him out.  It took two rangers to coach me into bringing Puff out to play.  Hardly even out the door Daddy Puff became a hit with people and that was before he started playing with voice actors.  I didn't have the guts yet to have him ask his question to anyone so he mostly just went around the con saying hi to the con goers.
